PLYSCH - en taktil utställning
PLUSH - A tactile exhibition
PLUSH, was a year long project lead by artist Laura Blake and centered around the question, 'how can we experience craft if not only through sight'? The project was developed alongside visually impaired painter Holly Hipwell and multimedia artist Linnea Jardemark.
The final exhibition began with the painting, ‘Scattered Azaleas’ of petals floating in water, by Holly. From this Laura expanded the colour, shapes, and feeling in the initial work. Everything in the room was designed to be engaged with physically. Visitors were invited to touch, listen to, and play with the work. The space invited visitors to relax into the present moment, and simply be.
Experienced through not only sight, PLUSH believes that sensory experience allows more people to access culture, and particularly seeks to include disabled audiences. Ideas within this show have been tested with four local special education schools, where staff and students have shown us what is most interesting to develop further. A sound guide by artist Linnea Jardemark, is just one way the exhibition could be explored.
