Performing Craft (2018)
Focusing on how materials can make us immediately feel, Performing Craft investigated how sensory craft can make the field more inclusive to disabled audiences. A tent creates a neutral space in which to experience and discover the work. Inside the tent are weighted and tactile sculptures and a vibrating soundbox. These objects emphasise the present moment, unconcerned with the before or the after. They highlight the importance for simply being.
Performing Craft was co-designed with young Neurodiverse people in Dalsland, Sweden. Neurodiversity refers to neurological differences, such as Autism or brain damage, that alter a person’s perception of the world.
