Heather (2022)
On a walk in Asturias, Northern Spain, I was instantly drawn to the colour palette of the sea, grasses and heather growing on a cliff edge. When I think back to the cliff, the purples, reds, and pinks all blur into one, and I knew it had to be shown as a gradient. Heather is also my first work to explore an inwardly curved form. This shape hopes to bring the audience in to the piece and has even resulted in some peoples exploring the work with their back. Having always adored the warren of threads and knots that cover the back of embroidery and beading, it is a bonus to expose this element.
