Let It Flow (2021-22)
When beginning to make ‘Let it Flow’, I dyed a series of fabrics and woods navy. At the time, I wasn’t sure why I wanted them entirely dark blue. However, during their construction, I walked by the canal in Dalsland where I live. The water was dark and deep, it moved, segmented, and reflected just like I had imagined the pieces eventually would. I realised that the colour and forms had come from seeing these bodies of water most days.
These pieces work towards the wood and textiles becoming one object through intensive couching embroidery. They seek to guide the hand through artwork with stitch, encouraging lingering and discovery.
