Endless Sky
This tapestry celebrates the nature which made me feel at home when I moved to Sweden in 2016. Sitting by a forest lake in summer, the
never-ending light and colour compelled me to stay present, providing escapem from the overwhelming feelings that can come with moving to a new country. This work abstracts not just the tones and form that surrounded me, but also the movement and sounds. Made to be touched, `Endless Sky´ rewards curious hands with a tactile and musical response. This work’s tactility challenges the ocularcentrism of art. In being sensory, it is immediately understood, regardless of intellectual or physical ability. Interaction with handmade work provides the very foundation of craft, a point at which materials and people meet. |
